Ontario Soccer Association – With the launch of the new site, the 2016 schedule is now available to the public

March 28, 2016

Vaughan, Ontario – League1 Ontario launched a new website this morning, which better reflects the successes of a league that is preparing Ontario’s soccer stars for the next level.

Powered by the Ontario Soccer Association’s official technology partner Sport Ngin, this new site will allow for greater interaction with league fans and serve as a better platform for players to broadcast their successes to the world.

“One of the things we’ve been hearing is that we love what you’re doing on the development side, we see the players you’re producing, we just wish there was a way we could better follow the league,” League1 Ontario commissioner Dino Rossi said. “Well, that way is this new site.”

League1 Ontario’s site now allows fans to follow the games in real time. In addition to increasing the number of games streamed live this season, which can be viewed directly from the site, fans will be able to watch archived games after they’ve been played and follow live updates from the site’s scrolling ticker.

With the launch, League1 Ontario has also released its schedule for the 2016 season. Nearly 500 games will be played in the men’s and women’s divisions this year, which have quickly become the launching pad for a young player’s career. League1 Ontario has moved 26 players on to the fully professional-ranks over the last two seasons. That includes 15 from this off-season and four of which were women’s players.

“From the out-set this has been our mandate – to give the best players in Ontario the chance to shine. And we’re now seeing the fruits of that labour,” Rossi said.

Both the men’s and women’s divisions have their own sections on the site where fans can get a quick, at-a-glance look at who are the league’s top performers and highlight marquee games that are coming up.  The site has a number of other features and functionalities that will be rolled out over the season.

“Sport Ngin is proud to power League1 Ontario.  We want to give League1 Ontario a platform to better showcase their teams, players and who they are as a league.” states John Weinerth, Sport Ngin Vice President of Soccer. “This new custom site does that and will connect teams to fans, while highlighting the players and the beautiful game in Ontario.”

League1 Ontario Men’s division kicks off April 29. The Women’s division takes the field May 6.
