Speed Skating Canada – The Canadian Senior Selections #2 will be held this weekend, March 23-25

Speed Skating Canada – Laval, March 21, 2018 – Laval and Place Bell will play host for the very first time to a national short track speed skating competition this weekend, March 23-25, with the presentation of the Canadian Senior Selections #2.

A total of 64 skaters, 32 women and 32 men, will take part in this competition, including several members of Speed Skating Canada’s National and Development Teams, but excluding the athletes who represented Canada at the Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, and at last weekend’s ISU World Championships in Montreal.

Participating athletes will look to improve their national ranking in hopes of qualifying for the national and development teams next season.

The competition will be webstreamed live through the Fédération de patinage de vitesse du Québec’s YouTube Channel. A link is available at: www.speedskating.ca.

Following is the approximate competition schedule (local time):

Friday, March 23 (1500m)

2:10 pm to 5:36 pm

Saturday, March 24 (500m)

1:40 pm to 5:40 pm

Sunday, March 25 (1000m and relays)

10:10 am to 4:01 pm
