Softball Canada – (Valencia, Venezuela) Softball Canada President Kevin Quinn attended the XVII WBSC Americas Softball Ordinary Assembly in Valencia, Venezuela this past weekend (April 1-3). Following three days of meetings, an election was held for positions on the Board of Directors of the regional softball organization formerly known as CONPASA (Pan American Softball Confederation), with Quinn being re-elected North American Vice-President.
 
“I am extremely proud to have the honour of being elected to the Board of WBSC Americas Softball” stated Quinn. “I hope to represent my country well as I work hard to improve softball at many levels throughout the Americas. I want to thank the Softball Canada Board for putting my name forward for this position as North American Vice-President of WBSC Americas Softball and CEO Hugh Mitchener for his continued support.”
 
Quinn has served as President of Softball Canada since 2001, and was first elected as North American Vice-President of the WBSC Americas Softball in 2011.
 
In addition to the election, the WBSC Americas Softball announced that the IX Women’s Pan American Softball Championship will take place in Hermosillo, Mexico in August 2017. The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2018 WBSC Women’s World Softball Championship in Chiba, Japan and the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The top five teams from the Pan American Championship will qualify for both events.
 
The IX Men’s Pan American Softball Championship is scheduled to take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in October, 2017. The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
