Sport Manitoba – Pro for A Day!

Winnipeg, MB – Sport Manitoba announced plans to host its first of many Regional Testing Combines open to athletes residing in rural Manitoba of ANY level or sport background.

This inaugural event will be delivered by Sport Manitoba’s new Coach/Athlete Development Coordinators and is the first of many new programs to be offered to rural Manitoba as part of Sport Manitoba’s new structure complementing the building of the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre.  Through these new positions, Sport Manitoba can provide rural athletes with similar resources as Winnipeg athletes – without the trip to Winnipeg.

Sport Manitoba first announced the creation of a new position in rural Manitoba last year. The first Coach/Athlete Development Coordinator hired, Brittany Bruinooge, has been working out of Brandon. Jacqueline Mazur, Winkler, was announced in April of this year. Sport Manitoba plans to add another Coach/Athlete Development Coordinator in rural Manitoba again next year as it looks to build on the momentum generated by the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre.

The Combine is an opportunity for athletes to challenge themselves in a fun environment while giving them exposure to tests they will encounter as they advance through the sport system. Results from the tests help identify natural athletic abilities and may be useful in determining possible sports to specialize in. This a fantastic opportunity for coaches to get baseline testing done for their entire team at a low cost, quickly and efficiently. Its also an opportunity to meet and ask questions from some of the most qualified strength and conditioning experts in the province as Sport Manitoba’s Senior Manager, Athlete Development will be attending these Combines.

The Combine Includes:

  • Info session for parents
  • Athlete testing for Speed, Agility, Strength, & Power
  • Specialized talent ID testing by Rowing Canada
  • Review of athlete’s results by Sport Performance Experts
  • Draws, Prizes & Live Music
  • Recovery Snacks and Drinks
  • Dri-Fit Sport for Life Combine T-shirt
