Alpine Canada – Calgary, Alta. (March 7, 2016) – In the rescheduled Jasna, Slovakia giant slalom race today, Marie-Michèle Gagnon from Lac Etchemin, Que., captures her second sixth-place finish of the weekend after yesterday’s slalom race.

This is the eighth giant slalom race of the season and course reports indicate a turny set for both runs of the lengthy track. Gagnon started with bib number 23 and sat in 14th-place after her first run. Gagnon skied well in the second run jumping her into first-place until the top skiers in the field came down. This is Gagnon’s second top-ten giant slalom finish this season.

Toronto, Ont.’s Candace Crawford, conquers a career-best World Cup giant slalom finish ending the race in 23rd-place after starting with bib number 35. Crawford moved up seven spots after her first run landing her in the top 30 for the first time in her giant slalom career.

The podium belonged to Austria’s Eva-Marie Brem leading by 0.27 seconds over Germany’s Victoria Rebensburg. Italy’s Federica Brignone rounds out the podium sitting 0.52 seconds back from Brem.

Today’s podium shake up means the giant slalom Crystal Globe is still up for grabs and will be decided during the World Cup Finals. This is the last World Cup technical event until the Finals in St. Moritz, Switzerland starting next weekend.
