Canadian Lacrosse Association – The women’s field lacrosse coaching pipeline got a boost last month thanks to a learning facilitator training workshop organized by the CLA and made possible thanks to project funding received by the Canadian Lacrosse Foundation (CLF).

Eight participants, representing four Member Associations (British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec), took part in the workshop on March 25-26, the first of its kinds offered since 2015. It was held at the Alberta Lacrosse Association offices and delivered by master coach developer Roxanne Curtis (Ontario).

“The number of qualified women’s field coaches in Canada will continue to grow thanks to the individuals that took part in this workshop,” said Jean-François Roy, Program Coordinator, Canadian Lacrosse Association. “These new learning facilitators are now certified to deliver community development and competitive coach introduction clinics for women’s field lacrosse.”

As part of the project, the Foundation also supplied each of the participating MA’s with a women’s field lacrosse starter kit, which included sticks, goaltender equipment, and portable nets. These kits will help facilitate coaching clinics and can also be used by MA’s to run introductory or recruitment sessions in their communities.
