U SPORTS – TORONTO / OTTAWA – Jake MacNeill and Gabriel Burlacu, a pair of former Windsor Lancers, highlight the Canadian roster heading to the 2018 World University Beach Volleyball Championship this week.
The former teammates will make up the Canadian men’s squad, while identical twin sisters Megan and Nicole McNamara of the University of California, Los Angles (UCLA) will enter the women’s competition.
“The FISU World University Beach Volleyball Championship is a good development opportunity for our next generation of athletes,” said Ed Drakich, Volleyball Canada High Performance Director for beach volleyball. “Germany will host a high-quality tournament, and it’s always great for our up-and-coming athletes to compete on the international stage.”
Adriana Bento, an assistant coach with the Toronto Varsity Blues and Kyra Iannone will serve as team staff.
The  2018 World University Beach Volleyball Championship is set for July 9-13 in Munich.
