Sport for Life Society – FIVE DAYS left for early-bird registration
Hello Sport for Life Champion,

You have FIVE DAYS left to register for the 2019 Sport for Life Canadian Summit at the early-bird rate! Register by Saturday, November 24 to save!

The Summit takes place January 22-24 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel, in Gatineau, QC.

The 2019 Sport for Life Canadian Summit theme “Moving to Action” is about inspiring leaders to move a nation to action across sport, recreation, health and education from the community club through to international arenas. Through the beauty of collaborative efforts and unity, let’s spark the change that impacts the engagement for all those within the sport and physical activity systems.

Sport for Life is very proud to have Beckie Scott, Olympian and leader in community sport in Canada, as one of our keynote speakers.

Beckie Scott, Olympic gold medallist

Beckie Scott retired in 2006 as Canada’s most decorated cross-country ski racer in the history of the sport. A three-time Olympian, Scott won gold in Salt Lake City in 2002, becoming the first Canadian (and first North American woman) to win an Olympic medal in cross-country skiing. She followed that up with Olympic silver in 2006, and a record 17 World Cup podium finishes.

We are pleased to announce that Kim St-Pierre, Olympic Gold Medallist, and Ram Nayyar, National Coach for Badminton Canada’s Para Program, will be our emcees during the Summit.

Kim St-Pierre, Olympic gold medallist

Kim St- Pierre helped Canada win gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games, the 2006 Turin Olympic Games and the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games in women’s ice hockey.

Kim also helped the national team win five gold and four silver medals at the world championships.

Ram Nayyar, National Coach for Badminton Canada’s Para Program

Ram Nayyar has travelled to over 90 countries globally and has coached at every major sporting event in the world. Additionally, Ram has been key in setting sport policy for various organizations around performance, including multisport games.

We are also happy to announce that Canadian author Angie Abdou will be reading from her book Home Ice: Reflections of a Reluctant Hockey Mom on Wednesday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m.

Angie Abdou, Canadian author

With her seventh book, Abdou turns her attention to nonfiction featuring youth sport and family life. Home Ice: Reflections of a Reluctant Hockey Mom chronicles the year in the life of a busy hockey family. A starred review in Booklist calls Home Ice a first-rate memoir, a fine example of narrative nonfiction, and a must-read for parents with youngsters in organized sport.

This year, we invite delegates to attend a “Winter Wonderland” reception with cocktails on the terrace of the Hilton Lac-Leamy on Wednesday, January 23 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Build new relationships, connect with key influencers, discover new opportunities and have fun!
