Racquetball Canada – Burlington, May 28, 2016 – The Men and Women’s Open finals are set for the 2016 Canadian Championships being held in Burlington.

Mike Green of Hamilton defeated James Landeryou of Saskatoon in Friday’s semifinal with scores of 15-8, 15-4 to move on to the final. A win tomorrow would mean that Green will have tied the record for the most Canadian Men’s Open Singles Championship titles, which is ten.

Green will face Tim Landeryou of Calgary, who won the other semifinal against Nicolas Bousquet of Montréal, 15-8, 15-10.

Jennifer Saunders of Winnipeg and Michèle Morissette of Baie-Comeau both won their pools to advance to the Women’s Open final.  A win would give Saunders her ninth open singles championship title.

Saskatoon’s Danielle Drury will face Alexis Iwaasa from Lethbridge for the bronze medal in the Women’s Open division.

All four athletes in the finals were members of the team that represented Canada at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

The Canadian Championships are taking place at Cedar Springs Health Racquet and Sportsclub in Burlington.
