Diving Canada –BUENOS AIRES –  Mélodie Leclerc of Montreal bounced around in the standings through the four rounds in the women’s 10-metre tower final and wound up seventh on Saturday in diving action at the Youth Olympic Games.

Shan Lin of China won a decisive gold with 466.50 points. Sofiia Lyskun of Ukraine was second at 406.10 and Gabriela Garcia of Mexico was third at 405.55.

Leclerc, 16, moved up as high as third after the second round but tumbled down to eighth after she earned 4.5’s and 5.0’s for her back two and half in the third round. She climbed a spot after her last dive and finished with 347.35.  She was also seventh in the preliminaries at 346.45.

‘’It was intimidating competing in front of such a large crowd,’’ said Leclerc, a member of Canada’s world junior team earlier this year. ‘’I just tried to keep focused and overall I’m pleased with my performance.’’

Competition continues Sunday with the men’s three-metre. Bryden Hattie of Victoria is Canada’s entry.
