Dick and Thai win second gold in diving at Canada Games
Diving – WINNIPEG – Elaena Dick of Toronto and Peter Thach Mai of Montreal each won a second gold medal on Wednesday in diving at the Canada Games.
On women’s one-metre, Dick posted a decisive victory with 290.40 points. Coral Strugnell of B.C. was second at 259.65 and Ashley McCool of Alberta was third at 258.20.
‘’There was a lot of consistency on my dives and it was my best day so far,’’ said Dick, also the three-metre winner on Tuesday and third on three-metre synchro on Monday. ‘’And that’s what I needed with so many good divers in the field.
‘’I wasn’t really expecting to do this well. I’m pretty excited about the tower competition (on Thursday).’’
On men’s three-metre, Mai posted 428.00 for the win. Bryden Hattie of B.C. was second at 406.40 and Ryan Grover, also of B.C., third at 384.10. Mai also won the three-metre synchro and was third on one-metre this week.
In the diving medal standings, Ontario remains first with three gold and two bronze. Quebec has two gold, a silver and bronze, Alberta one of each colour while B.C. has the most medals overall with four silver and two bronze.
Diving competition ends Thursday with the men’s and women’s 10-m.
