Ontario Soccer – It was a weekend of heated derbies and dominant displays in League1 Ontario Matchweek Six.  

In the men’s division, former TFC first team keeper Quillan Roberts showed his class in a 4-1 win over OSU Force that puts Woodbridge first in the east division and first overall in League1 Ontario men’s play.

Canadian internationals Giuliano Frano and Jonathan Grant got one apiece as Sigma FC won the Mississauga derby 2-1 over North Mississauga Panthers. Masters’ Maleik De Freitas (formerly of Trinidad pro club W. Connection) got his third of the season en route to a 2-1 Scarborough derby result over Toronto Skillz. 

In the women’s division, Canadian youth international Samantha Chang led the way for Unionville Milliken as the team came back from two goals down to Vaughan Azzurri to win 3-2 and go top of the women’s division. 

A humdinger of an East GTA derby ultimately ended up in favour of the hosts, as Durham United FA beat Darby FC 5-3. Former Canada youth international Madeline Iozzi and former Jamaican youth international Keona Simmonds got the late winners.

Finally, Oakland University’s Vladanka Gurovski bagged a brace, while Ukraine U18 player Nicole Kozlova and Canadian U20 players Lauren Raimondo and Jessica Lisi also got one each as Woodbridge Strikers took apart Toronto Azzurri Blizzard with a 5-0 drubbing.
