Swim Nova Scotia – Gatineau (QC)– Canada’s top Para swimmers wrapped up competition yesterday at the CAN-AM Para Swimming Championships that took place July 15-17 at the Centre sportif de Gatineau.

27-year-old Danial Murphy and 18-year-old Holly Doucette of the Sackville Waves Aquatic Team (SWAT) were Nova Scotia’s two swimmers in attendance amongst 200 other competitors. Danial set an unofficial Canadian PARA Record in the S5 50m Backstroke with a time of 52.20.

The Can-Am swim meets are designed to bring all Para-swimmers in Canada and the United States together twice a year to compete in stand-alone competitions that promotes fast swimming from development to the international level.

The Can-Am Open was the last major competition before the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
