Recreation Association of the Public Service of Canada – (Ottawa, ON) July 17, 2018 – The RA, a local not-for-profit is pleased to welcome Commonwealth Games Canada as they join the House of Sport community this month.

As the most visible manifestation of Commonwealth values, the Commonwealth Games focuses on fair play and equality. In a world where ethnic, religious, and cultural differences are used increasingly as pretexts for confrontation and division, the Commonwealth Games combat prejudice, fear, and racism by celebrating our differences and uniting through diversity.

“Commonwealth Games Canada exists to build a better Commonwealth using sport in Canada and abroad,” explains Brian MacPherson, Commonwealth Games Canada, Chief Executive Officer. “Like many of the other sport organizations already on-site in the House of Sport, Commonwealth Games Canada leverages the transformative powers of sport to inspire and make a difference.”

Commonwealth Games Canada works with local sport organizations in developing Commonwealth countries enhancing social skills of youth, especially women & girls, and assisting Commonwealth Games Associations in their capacity building.

“This sharing of knowledge and new ideas is at the core of the House of Sport’s culture,” offers Tosha Rhodenizer, RA Chief Executive Officer. “House of Sport members would agree that the principles of collaboration and innovation are key to inspiring others and making a difference.”

The House of Sport offers organizations an open concept community, and supports them with a wide range of services, and meeting rooms, leveraging economies of scale to drive down costs. This is on top of the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded organizations and access health and wellness opportunities for staff members.
