The 2020 MCT Men’s Amateur Championship has come to a close today at Ken-Wo Golf Club. Many competitors came close to taking the title, but in the end, only one can claim the top prize.
That one was Oakfield Golf & Country Club’s Ben Chasse. The Bishop’s University golfer captured his first ever amateur title after firing today’s low round of two-under-par (68), carding three birdies, and only one bogey. Chasse had a three day total of 5-under, 205.
Round two leader, David Williamson placed second overall with a three day total of 3-under par, 207.
Rounding out the top three was Ashburn’s Jake Smith, who’s father Gordie Smith won this event 35 years ago to the day. Smith, the youngest competitor in the field, fired 68-69-71—208, for the tournament.

The NSGA would like to say a special thank you to all the competitors this year! This was the first Provincial Championship run in any sport across the country, and we planned for anything and everything. Your cooperation, understanding, in keeping with the spirit of the game, made this event run much smoother than we anticipated, so thank you!

Thank you to Jaguar Land Rover Halifax for providing hole-in-one prizes during the first round. Prizes included a Yeti cooler, golf clubs, a cruise, and the grand prize of a brand new vehicle from Jaguar Land Rover Halifax. There were no winners during this championship, but stay tuned. Jaguar Land Rover Halifax are sponsoring hole-in-one prizes at ALL the NSGA championships this summer.

NSGA would like to thank the members, volunteers, and staff of Ken-Wo Golf Club for hosting such a wonderful event. Congratulations to all the winners
