Equestrian Canada – Ottawa, ON, Feb. 7, 2018 – Equestrian Canada (EC) is pleased to announce that the board members of the Central Nova Horse and Pony Association (CNHP) in Salmon River, NS have been selected as the recipients of the January 2018 Dressage Volunteer of the Month Award.

The current CNHP board members are: Amanda Greaves, Lesley Langley, Chrissy Lindsay, Pam Macintosh, Sheila McLellan, Sheri Morehouse, Norman Paupin, Stacey Paupin, and Amy Sangster.

The CNHP is a volunteer-run organization that offers shows and clinics on approximately 230 acres of land, which includes large rings, cross country trails, and stabling for up to 50 horses. The CNHP brings well-respected judges and presenters from across Canada in for their events, providing vital opportunities for local equestrians to develop their skills. As the host of EC sanctioned horse trials and monthly general performance shows, the CNHP has become a major hub for equestrian activity in the Maritimes.

In 2006, the CNHP identified a void in recognized dressage competition in northern Nova Scotia and began offering EC sanctioned Bronze and Gold dressage shows. Facilitating these shows, which are qualifiers for national and regional championships, remains a high priority for the CNHP board.

CNHP events provide a safe, fun environment for riders and horses of all levels, encouraging competitors to return year after year. The CNHP is fortunate to have sponsors from within the local community, whose generous support enhances the overall show experience for riders. The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere created by the CNPH has made it a popular rental venue for competitions, clinics and camps across disciplines.

While the CNHP board may be small, its activity has made a pronounced impact in Nova Scotia. Canadian equestrians both in the Maritimes and nationwide have benefitted from the CNHP’s efforts to provide accessible, multidiscipline opportunities for education and competition.

If you know of a volunteer who deserves recognition, nominations are quick and easy through the EC website. Nominations for the award are accepted until the 20th day of each month, making February 20th the next deadline to submit the name of a volunteer who has made a difference to the sport of dressage.
