(Victoria, BC – February 2, 2016) The third race in the Vancouver Island Race Series – Cedar 12K – takes place on Sunday, February 7^th at 11 am. The race starts and finishes at Cedar Intermediate Secondary School, 2215 Gould Road, Nanaimo. Cedar 12K is hosted by the Bastion Running Club. There is an early start at 10:30 am for slower runners and walkers.

 

Runners can register online until 6pm Friday February 5^th at www.vira.bc.ca, or on race day between 9 am and 10:30 am. Race registration until February 5^th is $30 for adults and $25 for students. Race day fee is $40.

 

“We have 400 registered so far and expect that to increase. It would be nice to top the 500 mark again by race day,” says Race Director, John Durkin. “We are pleased to have two-time Olympian, triathlete Brent McMahon, racing Cedar this year.”

 

Cedar 12K is followed by Hatley Castle 8K on February 21, Synergy Health Management Bazan Bay 5K on March 6, Comox Valley RV Half Marathon on March 20, and Sooke River 10K on April 3. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
