Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association – OSHAWA, ON – Conroy’s No Frills in Whitby has partnered with the 2017 PING CCAA Golf National Championships in the development of the “Driving 4 Food Banks” program.

The program is designed to help alleviate hunger in the Durham Region through donations while raising awareness of the issue of hunger.

For every birdie hit at the national championship, Conroy’s No Frills in Whitby will be donating a pound of food to the Salvation Army.

“We feel it’s important to use our platform to make a positive impact on the community whenever possible,” said Mike Duggan, Sports & IAASP Coordinator at Durham College. “We’re expecting hundreds of pounds of food to be donated within the Durham Region.”

Based on numbers from previous years, there are expected to be approximately 800 birdies hit at the tournament. The Royal Ashburn Golf Club will feature a display indicating how many donations have been made throughout the week.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Driving 4 Food Banks program,” said Scott Conroy. “A community only gets stronger when we all work together. I was honoured when Mike approached me about this event. Making a difference by providing help for those in need is a hole-in-one in my books!”
