January 9, 2018 – CBC, known for its award winning broadcasts of the Olympic Games, today announced an all-star line-up for PyeongChang 2018. The team of expert commentators, analysts and reporters will keep Canadian audiences engaged, informed and entertained as they experience the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 across all of CBC’s platforms.

“Canadians expect a world-class experience from CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Olympic Games and part of that comes from the exceptional broadcasters who bring the competition to life through top-notch storytelling,” said Greg Stremlaw, executive director, CBC Sports and general manager, Olympics. “From award-winning broadcasters to medal-winning Olympians, the family of experts we have assembled for our coverage of PyeongChang 2018 is second to none and we look forward to sharing their expertise with our audiences.”

The broadcast team accounts for more than 200 combined Olympic Games appearances as athletes and broadcasters, with the athletes having tallied nearly 30 Olympic Games medals, more than 220 World Cup medals and more than 83 World Championship medals. Athletes spanning winter and summer sports will bring the unique perspective of individuals who have experienced the thrill, intensity and pressure of the Olympic Games first-hand. The group also includes veteran broadcasters from across the world of high-performance sport including the iconic Steve Armitage who returns for his sixteenth Olympic Games broadcast.

Joining CBC’s five Olympic Games hosts are well-known names from the world of sport and broadcast including: two-time Olympic Games ice hockey gold medallist Cassie Campbell-Pascall; four-time world and national figure skating champion Kurt Browning; Olympic Games freestyle moguls champion (Torino 2006) and two-time medallist Jennifer Heil; 2010 skeleton gold medallist Jon Montgomery; Olympian and World Champion Perdita Felicien; and Canada’s only Olympic Games gold medal-winning alpine skier Kerrin Lee-Gartner, among many others (full list below).

Throughout the 19 total days of CBC’s coverage, the broadcast team announced today will appear across the network’s multi-platform channels including live streaming coverage online and via the upcoming CBC Olympics app, on CBC Radio as well as on primary broadcast partner TSN and on Sportsnet.

TSN and Sportsnet broadcast personalities will be part of the team bringing PyeongChang 2018 to Canadians. Special editions of Coach’s Corner with Don Cherry and Ron MacLean will be part of CBC’s broadcasts during select games from the men’s and women’s ice hockey tournaments, as the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast schedule permits.
