OTTAWA, ONTARIO –October 8, 2020 – As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, CARHA Hockey is announcing that it will be postponing the CARHA Hockey World Cup in Richmond, British Columbia to 2022.

The Event will now be hosted from March 27th to April 3rd, 2022.
With so much uncertainty surrounding the immediate future of COVID-19 both in Canada as well as internationally, a decision has been made to protect our players, partners, staff, volunteers, guests and the Richmond community.

Although this decision was a difficult one, it is best for everyone as the health and safety of those who are involved is of the utmost importance. “While disappointed that the CARHA Hockey World Cup is further postponed, we support the commitment to ensuring the health and safety of all involved during this challenging time,” said City of Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

“Richmond looks forward to hosting this world-class event and welcoming the many athletes, visitors and spectators to our wonderful city in 2022.” CARHA Hockey has worked with its partners and are confident that 2022 will allow the full enjoyment and celebration of the CARHA Hockey World Cup the way it is intended, with camaraderie and togetherness, rather than precaution and uncertainty.

“The CARHA Hockey World Cup is a highly anticipated Event on the adult recreational hockey calendar. With more than 145 teams from 15 countries relying on our association to deliver a week of on-ice games, off-ice socials, sponsor activations and much more, this all may not be possible had we hosted in this coming April. Our decision was not made lightly but in the end, we knew we would not be doing our participants, sponsors or the Richmond community justice had we continued as planned. You can be assured that 2022 will be an epic experience for all”, says Lori Lopez, Executive Director, CARHA Hockey.

CARHA Hockey looks forward to hosting the CARHA Hockey World Cup in 2022 in Richmond, British Columbia, and hopes to see all of you there with us.
