Canoe Kayak Canada – OTTAWA, ON (November 6, 2017) – Canoe Kayak Canada is pleased to welcome four (4) members to its Board of Directors following its annual election. Tom Hall and Madeleine Hall return to the Board after being voted in by the Paddling Association members as Members at large, Kristopher Archibald has been newly appointed by the Marathon Council as one of their Board representatives and Pierre-Luc Laliberté will be joining the Board for the coming year after being appointed by the Board as Athlete Representative.
 
Peter Giles remains as CKC President for another year and the Board elected Tom Hall as Vice-President and Harold Van Winssen as Treasurer. 
 
As Vice-President, Tom Hall moves into a Board leadership role after serving three years as Chair of the Athlete’s Committee. Tom had a distinguished career as a canoe athlete having won a bronze medal in the C1 1000m at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
   
Marathon Representative Kristofer Archibald has been a long-standing member of the marathon community in Nova Scotia. As a second-generation canoer racer, Kris is an accomplished racer as well as coach, leading the wave in creating new innovative race opportunities for all interested paddlers in his area. More recently, after earning his PhD in Canadian Environmental History, Kris has accepted a position at St Mary’s University as an instructor.
 
As Athlete’s Representative, Pierre-Luc Laliberté will also take on the role of Chair of CKC’s Athlete Committee. Pierre-Luc is recently retired from competition and had a successful career as a national team canoe athlete.
 
The Board will round out its full membership following the election of the Sprint Racing Council’s new Commodore at the upcoming election of Members on November 18th, 2017.
