RA Centre – (Ottawa, ON) May 12, 2017 – The RA is pleased to announce that Canoe Kayak Canada is the latest of Canada’s leading National Sport Organizations to join the House of Sport.

The House of Sport being developed at the RA Centre provides National and Multi-Sport organizations the opportunity to locate their administrative offices together in a feature rich environment designed for collaboration, innovation and efficiency – a first of its kind in Canada. “The House of Sport will allow Canoe Kayak Canada, together with other national bodies, to collaborate with like-minded organizations and take advantage of shared services,” explains Tosha Rhodenizer, RA Chief Executive Officer. “The sport community has always had a strong sense of comradarie and by bringing organizations together under one roof, we can improve the way people work together, increase job satisfaction and create an environment for success.”

The House of Sport innovates the physical environment with a view to boosting connectivity and synergy. Courtyards and decks offer relaxed exterior work spaces and casual gathering spots. Natural light floods into every area through windows that employees choose to open or close. Private conversation areas and small meeting rooms showcase the design’s focus and attention to sound attenuation and noise control.

“We’re excited to be joining this initiative aimed at bringing sport organizations together to strengthen the Canadian sport system,” says Casey Wade, Canoe Kayak Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “Working alongside other organizations dedicated to furthering sport will make this a truly unique and motivating work environment.”

By belonging to a connected workplace that’s productive, thriving and innovative, sport organizations will have an advantage to attract and retain the best sport administration talent in the world.

Canoe Kayak Canada has had an enormous impact at the international level by championing initiatives to advance inclusion in the sport and has hosted several World Championships with great success. “Canadians have a special connection with paddling and our goal is to share the sport with as many people as we can,” Wade adds.

The sport has evolved and grown to include many different types of paddling. New events, clubs and champions have emerged over the years to continue a steady flow of stories with every generation of paddlers. Sharing the joys and benefits of paddling to a wider audience has made Canoe Kayak Canada one of Canada’s most successful summer sport organizations, enabling Canadians to enjoy the sport of paddling from playground to podium.

In addition to the feature rich environment offered by the House of Sport, the RA’s main campus on Riverside Drive also provides a valuable set of benefits to the House of Sport member organizations. These include active transportation options; bike paths and riverfront pathways, on-site fitness centre, sport and activity areas, restaurant, coffee shop, banquet and conference services, parking, nearby shopping, infrastructure and room to grow.
