Canadian Fencing Federation – A total of 21 Canadian Cadet (U18) Fencers made the trip to San Jose, Costa Rica to take part in the 2018 Cadet Pan American Championships and they came away with a total of five (5) medals and 13 top 8 finishes in Individual competition. 

Canadians won two medals in Women’s Individual Epee. Shirley Guo (VGO, North York, ON) took home the gold medal after defeating USA’s Sonia Bulavko 15-12 in the final.  Ariane Leonard (OM, Saint-Lambert, QC) came away with bronze after losing her semi-final a very close 15-14 to Bulavko.   Linda Liu (VGO, North York, ON) finished in 5^th while Justine Boudreau (OM, Sherbrooke, QC) was 8^th overall.

Nicholas Dinu (Canadian living in the US) competed in Cadet Men’s Sabre and won bronze.  Finishing top 8 were Andrew Wei (BRE, Montreal, QC) and Alex Sun (DYN, Vancouver, BC) who were 6^th and 7^th respectively.

Simon Poon (TFC, Toronto, ON) earned a bronze medal in Cadet Men’s Foil and his brother Alex Poon finished in 8^th place in the same competition.

Jane Caulfield (EFC, Edmonton, AB) was Canada’s top performer in Women’s Foil, earning a silver medal, while her teammates Annie Lin (TFC, Toronto, ON) and Corrine Balot (TFC, Toronto, ON) finished just off the podium in 5^th and 6^th place respectively.

Steven Grams (Canadian living in the US) was Canada’s only entry in men’s epee and he finished 8^th overall.
