Gymnastics Canada – TAIPEI CITY, TPE (August 28, 2017) – Canadian rhythmic gymnasts Cindy Huh (Vancouver, BC) and Kaedyn Lashley (Winnipeg, MB) represented Canada at the Summer Universiade (FISU) Games in Taipei City, TPE this weekend finishing 24th and 38th respectively.

Huh scored 46.550 points overall with her highest score coming in her hoop routine, scoring 13.450 points. “Overall I would say the competition went pretty well,” she said following the event. “I had a few mistakes here and there but I feel good about my performances, having been able to show my strengths. It was an amazing opportunity to be representing Canada at these Games. The crowd especially seemed to support our Canadian athletes and I was honoured to be a part of the experience.”

Lashley, who got sick upon arriving to the Games, battled it out in three of the apparatus, despite spending more time in the doctor’s office than in the gym leading into the competition.

“Considering how sick I was before the competition I was very pleasantly surprised with how I did over the past two days,” said Lashley. “It wasn’t my strongest performance but overall I’m very pleased with how I competed. With being at an event so large and of this magnitude I felt very honoured and proud to have been able to represent Canada.”

Canadian individual rhythmic gymnasts Carmen Whelan and Katherine Uchida along with group members Elizabet Belittchenko, Renna Cukier, Cleo Page, Vanessa Panov, Anastasia Shanko, and Alexandra Udachina will compete at the World Championships in Pesaro, Italy starting on August 30th.
