Jump Media – Canadian Pacific Returns as Presenting Sponsor of
2016 Chicago Hunter Derby

Antioch, Illinois – The acclaimed Chicago Hunter Derby will return to Annali-Brookwood Farm in Antioch, IL, on       September 10-11, 2016, and they welcome back presenting sponsor Canadian Pacific (CP).

CP has been a supporter of the annual charity benefit hunter derby since 2013. Alongside Chicago Equestrians for a       Cause, the organizers and hosts of the event, CP has helped the stand-alone hunter derby raise more than       $500,000 for charities including the Ann & Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the University of Chicago          Cancer Research Foundation, and the United States Hunter Jumper Association Foundation (USHJAF).

“CP is proud to once again partner with the Chicago Hunter Derby, one of the greatest hunter competitions in the        country,” said CP President & COO Keith Creel. “The event is run in a spectacular setting, and it’s an important        fundraiser hosted by Chicago Equestrians for a Cause. CP believes in supporting events that make a true impact in        local communities where our customers and employees live and work.”

Previously named the Best Hunter Derby of 2014 by the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame, the Chicago Hunter         Derby continues to raise its standard of excellence each year.

“We have a great group of supporters behind this derby without whom this wouldn’t be possible. We’re excited to        produce another high-quality event this year and to continue to build it to be bigger and better each year,” said Carl        Weeden, one of the founders of Chicago Equestrians for a Cause and the Chicago Hunter Derby. “Attendees and        exhibitors can look forward to some additions to this year’s schedule as we grow and offer more for hunter riders of        various levels.”

The ninth annual event will feature a $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter        Derby and two Welcome Stake classes, all with courses designed by Bobby Murphy, the course designer for the        2016 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals.

“Bobby has done a phenomenal job setting challenging, beautiful, and unique derby courses here each year, and        we’re thrilled to have him back again in 2016,” Weeden said. “We’re also excited to continue to offer the Welcome        Stake classes, which were suggested by George Morris. Because our venue is so unique and because the horses        don’t always get that much experience on the grass, he felt that the welcome stakes were very important.”

Continuing to lead the way as an innovator for the USHJA International Hunter Derbies, the Chicago Hunter Derby       was one of the first special competition derby events to offer the welcome stake classes, and in 2017 the welcome       stakes will become part of the USHJA International Hunter Derby program as well as being recognized by the United       States Equestrian Federation (USEF).

In addition to continual advancements and improvements in the derby ring, the Chicago Hunter Derby also prides       itself on increasingly high-caliber hospitality. This 2016 event will offer a champagne brunch with VIP seating during         the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby along with a Calcutta, raffle items, shopping, a silent auction,       children’s activities, appearances by the Millcreek hounds, and much more.
