Freestyle Canada – Park City, Utah, February 2nd, 2017 – The Canadian moguls team had a great day of competition at the Deer Valley World Cup. Veteran Justine Dufour-Lapointe got the ball rolling with a strong second place finish. While Mikael Kingsbury and Philippe Marquis skied with authority and landed themselves in first and third place.

Justine seems to have fallen into her groove on the World Cup circuit, as she claimed her third consecutive podium finish. Sisters Chloé Dufour-Lapointe and Maxime Dufour-Lapointe both found themselves within the top ten, finishing 7^th and 10^th respectively.
 
‘‘ My approach in today’s competition was a little different. It’s not a matter of doing a copy paste from your last competition, that doesn’t work. It’s a tough course, and that demanded that I step up and land some big jumps, clean…. After the final I was in 6^th, which meant I was leading off the super final, and I had to leave everything I had on the course…. I’m very proud of the way I pushed my limits today.’’ stated silver medallist Justine Dufour-Lapointe
 
Mikael had a great day of competition, clinching his 36^th World Cup victory and his 57th podium. Mikael now shares the record of most podiums with the legendary Edgar Grospiron. It’s full steam ahead for Mikael, as he prepares for Saturday’s dual moguls event.
 
‘‘…I knew Matt was carrying a lot of momentum into this competition, and that he had won this competition last year…. Today, I had to focus on my runs, and that’s typically when I achieve my best results…. I felt that my skiing was getting stronger as the competition progressed.’’ said gold medallist Mikael Kingsbury
 
Teammate Philippe Marquis finished third, and found the podium for the first time this season. This bronze medal performance should spark Philippe’s confidence, as he prepares for the dual moguls World Cup on Saturday.
 
‘‘ I’m really happy; this was definitely some of my best skiing to date. I was confident, and skiing with authority…. Today, I was able to pull everything together. I’m happy and relieved to finish third, and find myself on the podium.’’ stated bronze medallist Philippe Marquis
