Racquetball Canada – Canadian Junior Racquetball Championships Set to Begin in Kelowna
 
Kelowna, April 19, 2016 – Fifty of Canada’s top female and male junior racquetball athletes have gathered in Kelowna to compete at Racquetball Canada’s Canadian Junior Championships.
 
The championships run from April 20 to 23 and include singles and doubles events in several age categories running from from ages eight to eighteen.  
 
The Canadian Junior Championships is a unique event that provides both a development and high performance opportunity for Canada’s young racquetball athletes. Results from the older age categories will determine spots on Canada’s team for the 2016 World Junior Racquetball Championships.  The event also provides the opportunity for novice athletes to compete in a national event and for Racquetball Canada to identify athletes with potential for international competition at an elite level.

Youth aged 8 to 8 from across Canada including Canada’s top junior racquetball athletes.

When:    
Matches will run from 9:00 am until early evening on April 20 to 22. Competition on April 23 will run until about 4:00 pm. Please consult the link to draws and results for match times. 
 
Why:      
To determine Canada’s team for the 2016 Junior World Championship being played in November, 2016 for the U14, U16 and U18 age categories. The event also provides an important opportunity for athlete development and talent identification.  
 
The event is being hosted by the Kelowna Junior Racquetball Association in conjunction with the Global Fitness and Racquet Club and is is open to the public free of charge.  
 
Media are welcome to drop in for photos and video footage during tournament hours. Please check in with Terry Nelson or Richard Gauthier at the tournament desk upon arriving at the venue. Athlete interviews can be arranged in advance by contacting Jan Hanson, Racquetball Canada’s media contact.  Depending on the athlete’s schedule, it may also be possible to arrange an interview by request at the Tournament Desk
