Racquetball Canada – Winnipeg, MB, 24 April 2019 – Racquetball Canada’s 2019 Canadian Junior Championships is set to begin today in Valleyfield, Québec. The event runs from April 24 to 28, 2019 at the Club de Racquetball Edouard Boyer. 
 
Athletes from across Canada will compete in the annual event, which features boy’s and girl’s singles and doubles events in several age categories from from ages eight to eighteen.  
 
The Canadian Junior Championships is a unique event which provides both a development and high performance opportunity for Canada’s young racquetball athletes. Results in the older age categories will determine spots on Canada’s team for the 2019 World Junior Racquetball Championships being held this fall. The event also provides the opportunity for novice athletes to compete in a national event and for Racquetball Canada to identify athletes with potential for international competition at an elite level. 
 
Who:
Youth aged 8 to 18 from across Canada including Canada’s top junior racquetball athletes.

Matches: run daily from April 24 to 29. Match times vary each day are are available on link provided further down in this release. 
 
Opening Ceremony: April 24 at 6pm
 
Awards Ceremony: April 28. Banquet at 6pm with awards to follow. Please check with the Tournament Director Adrian Webb at awebb@prokennex.ca for an approximate start time for the awards portion of the event. 
 
Why:
To determine Canada’s team for the 2019 World Junior Championships in the 14 & U, 16 & U and 18 & U age categories. The event also provides an important national development and talent identification opportunity.
 
The event is being hosted by the Club de Racquetball Edouard Boyer and is is open to the public free of charge.  
 
Media are welcome to drop in for photos and video footage during the tournament hours and at the Opening Ceremony and Awards Banquet. Please check in with Adrian Webb or Andrew Dick upon arriving at the venue.
