Equestrian Canada – Ottawa, ON, May 7, 2018 – Canada’s up-and-coming jumping athletes will have the opportunity to represent the maple leaf in a youth-centred Nations’ Cup taking place at the CSIO 5* Odlum Brown BC Open, set for May 29 – June 3, 2018 at the Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC.

The CSIO 5* Odlum Brown BC Open will host CSIO-Ch and CSIO-J classes throughout the week for Children and Junior-level jumping athletes. The series will be highlighted by a Nations’ Cup on June 2 that will provide athletes with the opportunity to gain valuable experience working together as a team to represent their country.

The Chef d’Équipe for the teams will be Jumping Talent ID Program Advisor, Beth Underhill of Schomberg, ON.

The Junior and Children Nations’ Cup classes will each consist of two rounds, with the scores of all horse-rider combinations being added together in each round to form an overall team score. Results will be based on the lowest number of total team faults over the two rounds.

In addition to the Team Competition, the Junior and Children athletes will compete in a Table A Welcome on May 31, as well as a Grand Prix on June 3.

The CSIO-J Junior classes are open to athletes between the ages of 14-18, with courses set to a maximum of 1.40m. Athletes aged 12 to 14 can compete in the CSIO-Ch classes, with fence heights up to 1.20m.
