Curling Canada – More Canadian kids will get a chance to rock the curling world with the announcement today of an “eggs-citing” new partnership involving Canadian egg farmers and Rocks & Rings.

The partnership forms Egg Farmers’ Rocks & Rings, presented by Curling Canada, which will grow the successful program that has introduced more than 1 million kids to the sport since 2009.

Partly supported by the Curling Canada Foundation, Egg Farmers’ Rocks & Rings uses curling equipment that has been adapted to gymnasium surfaces, but closely simulates on-ice conditions, to give kids a fun and realistic introduction to the Roaring Game.

“We are very excited to be partnering with a program that reaches so many kids and parents,” said Scott Graham, Chair of Egg Farmers of Ontario. “The Rocks & Rings program will allow our farmers to continue our commitment to help strengthen communities across this great country. Curling is a fantastic sport for people of all ages and we’re very proud to play a role in getting Canada’s kids active and healthy.”

Curling Canada will continue to support Egg Farmers’ Rocks & Rings through its various philanthropic activities.

“I’m happy to see egg farmers from all over the country come aboard to support this great program, which is all about getting kids of all abilities and all backgrounds active in a sport in which they can participate for life,” said Katherine Henderson, Chief Executive Officer of Curling Canada. “It’s a great fit for the sport of curling and I’m excited to see what’s in store as Egg Farmers’ Rocks & Rings continues to grow across Canada.”

As the official breakfast protein of the Rocks & Rings program, egg farmers will generously offer healthy “egg-powered” meals  for new curlers participating in selected Curling 101 events; events that offer introductory curling lessons to youth and their parents.

“We’re thrilled to launch this partnership with Canadian egg farmers; not only because it will give us more resources with which to grow Egg Farmers’ Rocks & Rings, but also because it blends so well with our message of healthy lifestyles,” said Chad McMullan, president of Rock Solid Productions, which owns and operates the Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings program. “After hitting the 1-million mark for participants last season, we’re pushing ahead to 2 million, and it’s great to have our country’s egg farmers and Curling Canada as committed partners in getting as many kids curling as possible.”
