Equestrian Canada – Ottawa, ON, Feb. 14, 2018 – Canadian dressage athletes had much to celebrate after continued momentum during the fifth week of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), held Feb. 7-11, 2018 in Wellington, FL.

Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu of Saint-Bruno, QC earned notable results in both the big and small tour. Her big tour highlight came in the prestigious and challenging CDI 5* Grand Prix, where she danced her way to a score of 70.761% aboard All In (Tango x Damiro), the 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding she co-owns with her father, Craig Fraser and husband, Marc-Andre Beaulieu.

“I was very happy with All In’s performance in the Grand Prix,” said Fraser-Beaulieu. “Each time I compete he is getting more and more confident, and it’s a very nice feeling. The competition here in Wellington is very high so to be placed in the top three was very special.”

Fraser-Beaulieu also made her mark in the small tour, where she had her FEI debut with Jill Irving and Windhaven Farm’s 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding, Soccer City (Sir Donnerhall x Weltmeyer). The new partnership got off to a great start in the ring, with their best finish coming in the CDI 1* Prix St. Georges on Feb. 9, when Fraser-Beaulieu guided Soccer City to a score of 69.941% for second place.

“Soccer City is a new partnership for me,” explained Fraser-Beaulieu. “I started riding him about two weeks ago and I am very thankful to Jill Irving for giving me the ride on him. Soccer has not had many international starts, so I was very happy with my results.”

Also achieving top results in the big tour for the second consecutive week at the AGDF was Canadian Olympian Megan Lane of Loretto, ON. Paired with Deer Ridge Equestrian’s 12-year-old Westphalian gelding, San D’Or (Sandro Hit x Cocktail), she scored 67.978% in the CDI 3* Grand Prix on Feb. 7 to take third place and secure her invitation forward into the CDI 3* Grand Prix Freestyle on Feb. 9 – where a score of 71.850% added another third place to her collection.

The small tour saw continued success for Tom Dvorak of Hillsburgh, ON, who landed near the top the leaderboard for the second week in a row. Riding the nine-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Cyrus (Contucci x Cor Noir), owned by Carla Bahr, he scored 67.735% to land second place in the CDI 3* Intermediate I on Feb. 9, then closed the competition on Feb. 11 with a third place finish in the CDI 3* Intermediate Freestyle (71.000%).

Canada’s NextGen dressage athletes were also in the spotlight during AGDF 5. In the CDI-U25 Grand Prix Freestyle on Feb. 10, Tanya Strasser-Shostak of Sainte-Adèle, QC took the top spot with a score of 66.625% aboard Renaissance Tyme (Royal Diamond x Dream of Heidelberg I), a 15-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned by her mother, Evi Strasser,.

Vanessa Creech-Terauds of Caistor Centre, ON was impressive in the CDI-Y Young Rider division, earning a hat trick after winning all three classes aboard Fleur de Lis L (First Dance x De Niro), a nine-year-old Hanoverian mare also owned by Diane Creech and Louise Leatherdale. Her reign began on Feb. 8 with a score of 69.755% in the Team test. Her next two wins came the following day in the Individual and the Freestyle on scores of 68.824% and 70.575%, respectively.

“It was very exciting sweeping the Young Rider division at AGDF 5,” said Creech-Terauds. “I had been back home in Canada writing my exams in January and came back to show right away, so I was very proud of how Fleur and I were able to work together and get ready to show in such a short time period. It was also a very special weekend as the day of the jog was my 18th birthday, so I think Fleur gave me one of the best presents of all!”

Ava MacCoubrey of Coburg, ON finished close behind Creech-Terauds in the Team test, after scoring 66.814% to place third on Ritter Benno (Rolls Royce x Weinberg), Nicholas Hansen’s 17-year-old Westphalian gelding.

Competition continues at the AGDF until mid-March, with the next CDI competition taking place Feb. 16-17, 2018. For more information and results, visit http://gdf.coth.com.
