The trio also represented Canada at the 2014 world university championship, along with Anne-Julie Beaulieu (Quebec City, Que.), another Rouge et Or athlete.

Mike Butler, a member of the Canadian coaching staff at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, will serve as Team Leader.

Canada won its only medal in international competition at the 1992 world university championship, when Heather Ostrom and Karyn Kadonaga took home bronze in women’s doubles.

“I am very pleased to be going to Russia to coach Team Canada (at the world university championship),” said Butler, a former Olympian in 1988, who was inducted into Badminton Canada’s Hall of Fame in May. “It is always a great honour to represent your country whether as a player or now as a coach.”
