Canadian Athletes Ready to Compete at the 2018 UANA Pan American Championships
Hosted by USA Synchro with support from the local Riversides Aquettes, the event will welcome over 223 artistic swimmers representing 11 countries, accompanied by more than 100 support staff members (coaches, team leaders, judges and officials). Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama as well as the host nation USA will be competing in this year’s Championships. Each country is allowed to enter two routines in each event in each Age group (12U, 13-15, Junior, Senior).
The Canadian 13-15 National Team has been training in Toronto in preparation for this competition since July 11. The training camp was held at the Toronto Pan American Sports Complex and the Markam Pan Am Centre. The team members also prepared by competing in the figure event at the 2018 SYNC held in Toronto earlier in the month.
The coaching team for the Canadian 13-15 Team was announced last March. Leading the team will be Head Coach Manny Wu, from Ajax, ON, assisted by Laura Swift, from Pointe-Claire, QC.
“Our 13-15 National team, under the strong coaching leadership of Manny and Laura, is well prepared and ready to perform in Riverside,” stated Canada Artistic Swimming Technical Director Leslie Sproule. “With 10 first-time national team members amongst the 11-athlete squad, this is a young, talented and enthusiastic group with a fantastic attitude.
