Gymnastics Canada – MARKHAM, ON (March 13, 2017) – Media are invited to attend the Elite Canada 2016 rhythmic gymnastics competition running from Thursday, March 16 to Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Markham Pan Am Centre in Markham, ON. 

Hosted by the Kalev Estienne Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, Elite Canada brings together the top athletes from across Canada from the novice, junior, and senior categories in rhythmic gymnastics. Elite Canada is an annual event held to determine the top junior and senior rhythmic gymnasts in Canada who will go on to compete at the Canadian Championships in Edmonton, AB in May. It also helps select the athletes that will represent Canada at major international competitions. 

WHAT: 2017 Elite Canada Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition 

WHO:   

  • Toronto-based national team members Natalie Garcia, Sophie Crane, Katherine Savchenko compete in the junior category; Carmen Whelan, Katherine Uchida, Emma Lozhkin and Athena Tsaltas compete in the senior category. Junior national team member, Diana Noskova, will also compete in in the senior category.
  • 170 of Canada’s top rhythmic gymnasts, 36 coaches, and 19 judges.
