Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame – On September 13, 2016, media are invited to attend Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s official unveil of a new exhibit in honour of Canadian hero and inducted Honoured Member, Terry Fox. The exhibit titled Terry Fox: Running to the Heart of Canada tells Terry’s story of his life before the infamous run, life on the road, his triumphs and struggles and what kind of impact he and his foundation have made over the years. Darrell Fox, Board Member of the Terry Fox Research Institute and Terry’s younger brother, will share never before told stories about the Marathon of Hope and what it was like to be by Terry’s side during the run with 150 students from Colonel Fred J Scott School who will attend the media conference. Catriona Le May Doan, 2-time Olympic Gold Medallist and Honoured Member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame will also share her story of how Terry inspired her Speed Skating career and the President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of History, Mark O’Neill will be on-hand to help launch the exhibit.

Artefacts featured in the Terry Fox: Running to the Heart of Canada exhibit include a signed Wayne Gretzky jersey given to Terry before he started the Marathon of Hope, a prosthetic leg similar to the one Terry used and a pair of shoes signed by dozens of Olympians and Honoured Members of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. In anticipation of the 36th annual Terry Fox Run taking place on Sunday, September 18, VolunteerTerry Fox Run Organizers for both the Calgary and Edmonton runs will attend to officially unveil the new exhibit. To-date, $700 million dollars has been raised in Terry Fox’s name. The exhibit is open to public until December 31, 2016.
