Calgary, January 18, 2018 – Today, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is excited to announce the launch of the national Girls in Sport campaign aimed at reaching thousands of girls across Canada to inspire them to be active. Our goal is to help make people more aware of why girls need to be inspired, influenced, and encouraged to get involved and stay involved in sport. Playing sports, whether recreational or elite, has been proven to directly impact success in school, career, and quality of life. A series of six short videos will be released bi-weekly tied to this initiative including Sweaty is Awesome, Benefits, Parents as Role Models, Sticking With It, How Coaches Can Help, and Why Be a Girl Athlete. All videos will be accessible via and on Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame’s social media channels.

“I am truly honored to help Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame with this project, Girls in Sport. I have had a very fun and active life due to my participation in sport at the elite level and at the grassroots level. Sport has given me so much, but most importantly, it has given me confidence to pursue my goals and dreams while also giving me the confidence to respect myself first and foremost. To help inspire the next generation of strong confident women through sport is an absolute passion of mine, and I believe sport builds great leadership skills,” said Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Honoured Member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

On June 14, 2018, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame will host the 2nd annual #InspireCanada Gala. Proceeds from this event will help to support the next phase of the Girls in Sport campaign aimed at reaching and inspiring even more girls across the country as well as creating a Women in Sport gallery scheduled to open in 2019 at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
