Swimming Canada – RIO- Santo Condorelli, one of Canada’s top medal hopes in swimming for this summer’s Olympics, won the bronze medal in the men’s 100-m freestyle on Monday at a Games test event.

Marcelo Chierighini led Brazil to a 1-2 finish clocking 48.23 seconds with Nicolas Nilo Oliveira second in 48.54. Condorelli, fresh from earning his nomination to the Olympic team at trials in Toronto last week, followed in 48.66.

Condorelli, from Kenora, Ont., was a half-second slower than his winning time at the trials.  He was fourth at the world championships in the 100-m free this past summer in Russia.

Condorelli is the only Canadian at the event.
