Canada Soccer – Canada Soccer’s Men’s National U-20 Team will face Honduras in a pair of international friendly matches in November. The two away matches will be played 12 and 15 November in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The two matches will be part of a nine-day camp in November 2016 during the FIFA international window, which will give Canada an opportunity to bring together their top players from both North American- and European-based clubs.

“Qualifying is right around the corner so this camp comes at a vital stage in our preparation,” said Robert Gale, Canada Soccer’s Men’s National U-20 Team Coach. “This is a great camp where we can bring together players from both sides of the pond.”

The 2017 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship runs 17 February to 5 March in Costa Rica. From 12 CONCACAF nations, the top four will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 from 20 May to 11 June.

“It’s an important opportunity to bring them together and get them down into the CONCACAF environment against a strong opposition in Honduras,” said Gale.

The squad for the international series in Honduras will be announced in early November. Only players born 1997 or later are eligible for next year’s CONCACAF and FIFA U-20 competitions.

Canada Soccer’s Men’s EXCEL Program channels our nation’s exceptional players into the best soccer environments.
