Canada Soccer – The expanded 2017 edition of Canada Soccer’s Futsal Canadian Championship will feature three provincial representatives for the first time as Saskatchewan joins perennial participants Ontario and Quebec.  The round robin tournament kicks off in Kingston, ON Friday 21 April at 17:00 ET live on Canada Soccer TV (www.youtube.com/canadasoccertv).
 
Inaugural 2015 Futsal Canadian Championship winners Futsal Club Toronto, representing Ontario, will face Montreal Sporting Outlaws FC from Quebec in the opening match before taking on Saskatchewan’s Saskatoon Olimipia SK FC. Saskatchewan and Quebec will play in the final round robin match on Saturday before the Grand Final Sunday 23 April at 12:00 ET live on Canada Soccer TV.
 
“The Futsal Canadian Championship is gaining momentum as an event representing an important evolution of the official indoor version of soccer in Canada,” said Peter Montopoli. “We wish the participating clubs from our Provincial Member Associations in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec the best of luck and look forward to further expansion of the competition in the years to come.”
 
In addition to the Championship, the weekend will feature a Saturday afternoon Youth Futsal Clinic with Canada Soccer’s Futsal Head Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos. The clinic will include participants from the local Kingston area.
 
This will mark the first time that Kingston has hosted one of Canada Soccer’s national competitions. Previous editions of the Futsal Canadian Championship were played in Montréal, Québec (2015) and Oshawa, Ontario (2016).
 
From the first two editions of the Futsal Canadian Championship, Futsal Club Toronto were national champions in 2015 and Toronto United Futsal were national champions in 2016.
