Canada Soccer – Canada Soccer has announced their squad for an upcoming Men’s U-18 camp and series of 2016 international matches. The nine-day camp runs 3-11 October in Salvador, El Salvador, with matches to be played 7 and 9 October.

Canada will train in Toronto before traveling as a team to El Salvador before the two Men’s U-18 International Friendly matches.

“We continue to work in close relationship with the professional clubs and provide accumulating international experience in the development of our Canadian players,” said Rob Gale, Canada Soccer’s Men’s National U-20 Team Coach. “It is very important to continue exposing these young players to CONCACAF environments well ahead of qualifying.”

The Canadian U-18 group features players born 1999 or later, thus eligible for the 2019 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship and FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019 (dates and locations yet to be announced). This marks the age group’s eighth camp since 2013.

The group is also eligible at the youth level up through to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Canada Soccer’s Men’s EXCEL Program channels our nation’s exceptional players into the best soccer environments. The Canada Soccer Pathway works in collaboration with our provincial and territorial partners as well as the professional clubs and academies. For Canada’s elite players, the program emphasizes player development on the pathway to representing Canada’s Men’s National Team in international soccer.
