Racquetball Canada – Winnipeg, March 18, 2016 – Team Canada is set to begin play at the 2016 Pan Am Racquetball Championships being held in San Luis Potosi, Mexico from March 19 to 27. 
 
Six athletes will be representing Canada at the championships. Mike Green (Hamilton) and Samuel Murray (Baie-Comeau) will compete in the Men’s Singles event and Pedro Castro (Brossard) and Tim Landeryou (Calgary) will team up for the Men’s Doubles event. Frédérique Lambert (Montréal) and Jennifer Saunders (Winnipeg) will compete in both the Women’s Singles and Doubles events. All athletes have considerable competitive experience and most have won several medals at the international level.  
 
Michel Gagnon of Montréal and Evan Pritchard of Winnipeg will coach the team and Christian Lord of Montréal will provide athlete support services.
 
The tournament begins with group play which will determine the seeding for the single elimination championship round. The groups are selected based on results from previous years. Group play runs from March 19 to 21, with the elimination round beginning March 23. 
 
Canada has a history of success at the international level in racquetball. Canada came away from the 2015 Pan Am Games with bronze medals in three events but did not have a podium finish at the 2015 Pan Am Championships. Racquetball Canada is hoping to improve on their results at this year’s championships.
