Canada Soccer – Canada will face Mexico in an all-important Monday showdown at the 2017 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship. Canada will look to build on their positive play from the first half of their Friday opener, but will need to get points after that 0:1 loss to Honduras that has Canada in third place in their four-nation group.

The 20 February Canada-Mexico match will be broadcast live on CONCACAF’s Facebook channel at 20.30 ET / 17.30 PT. Canada Soccer will provide in-match coverage from Estadio Nacional via Canada Soccer’s digital channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Flickr.

“Our football in the first half was some of the best that we had played in awhile,” said Liam Fraser, Canadian midfielder. “I think we as a team recognise that and that we can implement that into the next match. I think staying committed to our game plan and staying committed as a group, more than anything, will be most important to our match against Mexico.”

On Friday, Canada and Honduras each had their share of the chances, but Honduras walked away with full points after capitalising on a low, screened shot from distance.

From the opening day, Mexico are in first place after a  3:0 win over Antigua and Barbuda.

“We know they are very good, perhaps one of the better Mexico squads that we have come against,” said Gale. “At this level, however, we always expect a tough test, so it is vital that the internal belief is always there because we have shown that we can go toe to toe with our opponents and get the results we need.”

At stake, Canada will need to finish first or second in their group to advance to the second phase. From 12 nations split into three groups, six will play in the second CONCACAF phase after which just four will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.

Fans can follow Canada throughout the CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica, with upcoming group matches on 20 February (Mexico), and 23 February (Antigua & Barbuda). The 12-nation competition continues through to the championship final on 5 March. All of Canada’s matches are scheduled to be broadcast live on Facebook via CONCACAFcom.
