Canada Snowboard – The World Snowboard Tour descended upon the resort town of Yabuli, China this past week for the quad-annual World Championships of Snowboarding, as Canadian riders took part in the Halfpipe, Big Air, and Slopestyle events.

Saturday night saw the male and female Big Air finals go down, with Seb Toots (L’Assomption,QC) coming away as the top canadian with a third place finish. His 1260 Nose grab was enough to bump up his combined score and ensure a podium finish.

Monday night’s Slopestyle finals also featured a strong canadian contingent, including Tyler Nicholson (North Bay, ON) who qualified first in the men’s field. However, it was Max Parrot (Bromont, QC) who stole the show with a couple of flawless runs, including a backside triple cork 1440, to claim the silver medal.
 
Parrot has now wrapped up both the WST and FIS Big Air Overall tour titles and sits only 215 points out of first place, currently held by teammate Mark McMorris (Regina, SK) ,in the overall WST rankings with one event to go.

The overall slopestyle champion title will be decided at the Grandvalira Total Fight in Andorra, March 26th.

Parrot commented: “As the Big Air contests are finished, I am the 2015/2016 Big Air World Snowboard Tour and FIS champion which was my main objective at the beginning of the season. What makes me proud is that I was able to keep my consistency throughout the season by overcoming adversity all season long. Despite injuries and illness, like the one I had this past week, I was able to maintain my winning streak all season long.”

Canadians in all disciplines continue to shine in major events across the World as most riders will now return home to continue their prep for the final events of the season.
