Canada Soccer – Canada will face Mexico, Guatemala, and Guadeloupe in the group stage at the 2017 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship. The 16-nation tournament runs next 20-26 February and will qualify two CONCACAF nations to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017.

Bahamas will host both the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship as well as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2017. The draw for the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship was hosted on Monday 17 October 2016 in Doral, FL, USA.

“The excitement is high among the 16 countries,” said Kyriakos Selaidopoulos, Canada Soccer’s Beach Soccer coach. “We will look to put a competitive team together that will represent Canada at the highest level.”

Group A: Bahamas, Jamaica, Belize, Guyana
Group B: Mexico, Guatemala, Canada, Guadeloupe
Group C: USA, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua & Barbuda, US Virgin Islands
Group D: El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Turks & Caicos Islands

“We are very proud to welcome once again the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship,” said the Bahamas Football Association President Anton Sealey. “The fans will have an extraordinary opportunity to see the best teams compete for the title. Bahamians have embraced beach soccer and we are confident that this tournament will help generate greater excitement and anticipation for the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.”

At the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship, Bahamas are already qualified (FIFA Beach Soccer hosts) while Guadeloupe can not qualify (they are not FIFA members). As such, it will be the top-two nations from the other 14 participating nations that are eligible to win CONCACAF’s two other spots to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
