Canada Hwaiting (“Go Canada”)! | Olympic Recap: DAY 3 | Canada Gets on the Medal Board at PyeongChang 2018
Canadian Sport Institute Pacific – POWERING PERFORMANCE. INSPIRING EXCELLENCE.
– A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
What an incredible Day 3 for Team Canada, with their first four medals at PyeongChang 2018.
The first ones came from our partners at Canada Snowboard, with Max Parrot winning Silver and Mark McMorris right beside him on the podium with a bronze. What an incredible show these riders put on over the past two days in South Korea with their unbelievable skill. A big shoutout to our staff members who all work very closely with these riders: Dr. Jeremy Sheppard, one of our Directors, Performance Solutions, is the Sport Science & Medicine Lead for Canada Snowboard; Jeremy Watkin & Albie Sears (Strength & Conditioning), Christie Gialloreto (Mental Performance Consultant) and Jo Irvine (Sport Nutrition).
Later we experienced the flip side of the Games, when Freestyle Skiing medal hopeful Andi Naude had a difficult final run and wasn’t able to hit the podium. We’ve been lucky to work with Andi for a number of years, as she was one of the first Freestyle NextGen athletes to come through the program. We have seen her determination daily and know she’ll bounce back better than ever. Canada is proud of you, Andi!
Brilliant, gritty performances by all these athletes. We’re extremely proud to do our part in their journeys to the Games, working with their National Sport Organizations to help power performance & inspire excellence.
A huge congratulations to all four medal winners from today: Max, Mark, Justine Dufour-Lapointe (Silver in Freestyle Skiing – Moguls) and Ted-Jan Bloemen (Silver in Speed Skating Long Track – 5,000m). We’re sure this is the start of a great medal run for Team Canada. Go Canada Go!
