Baseball Canada – Alberta and host Manitoba will meet in one of two semi final games on Thursday as both clubs wrapped up first place in Pool A and Pool B, respectively, with wins on the final day of round robin competition. It will be BC and Ontario meeting in Thursday morning’s quarterfinal match-up with the winner facing Saskatchewan in the other semi final.

Manitoba 3 Ontario 2 (8 innings) – Ethan Walpole’s RBI single in the top of the eighth brought in the eventual game-winning run for Manitoba as they clinched first place in pool B with a 3-2, extra-innings win over previously unbeaten Ontario. Ontario carried a 1-0 lead into the seventh thanks to a Sam Lebel RBI single in the first before Manitoba drew even on Jared McCorrister’s two-out single. Manitoba starter Owen Harms turned in 7.2 gutsy innings on the mound to earn the win while Cameron Thickson got Lebel to fly-out to right field to end the game.

Alberta 9 Québec 5 – Alberta’s offensive juggernaut continued to roll in this one as they belted out 11 hits including a solo home run from Jacob Libbus to come away with a 9-5 win over Québec to wrap up first place in Pool A. Five different Alberta hitters recorded an extra base hit while Chris Thomson earned the win on the mound with four solid innings of work with one strikeout.

BC 2 Saskatchewan 1 – A bases loaded walk issued in the bottom of the seventh scored Daniel Gernon to give BC a 2-1 win over Saskatchewan. Both teams tied with 3-3 records in the Pool A standings but Saskatchewan earned second place while BC settled for third as a result of the tie-breaking formula. Gernon and Jayden Knight had two hits apiece for BC who received a 6.1 innings effort from Carter Morris on the mound.

Two All-Atlantic match-ups kicked off the action this afternoon including Nova Scotia taking on New Brunswick while Newfoundland & Labrador faced PEI. Dyton Blackett went 4-for-4 with a triple and drove in a run as part of a four-run sixth to give Nova Scotia a 7-3 win over New Brunswick. Jaden Griffin knocked in a pair of runs while Joey Hagen went the distance in a complete-game victory. Josh Myers drove in a pair of runs and Patrick Young collected two hits and scored three runs to lead PEI to an 8-2 win over Newfoundland & Labrador. Nathan Jones struck out five over two scoreless innings to earn the save.                                                                                                                                                                                     Nova Scotia will meet PEI in the 7/8 game on Thursday while New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador will play in the 9/10 game.
