Canada Basketball – MINSK, BELARUS (July 29, 2018) – Team Canada defeated Mali 58-50 on the final day of the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 to finish the tournament in 9th place.

Yvonne Ejim led the way for Canada, showing how it’s done offensively and contributing in all aspects defensively.  She ended the day with a team high 12 points off of 66% shooting, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and a block in 23 minutes played.

Canada and Mali came out evenly matched throughout the first quarter but locking down inside the paint gave Canada a slim 15-12 lead going into the second quarter.

Canada outscored Mali 18-14 in the second quarter off of their 53% shooting and extended their lead to 33-26 going into the second half.

Post scoring continued to be Canada’s route on offence throughout the third quarter as they held their lead and were up 45-39 going into the final 10 minutes of regulation.  Canada remained on top in the fourth and took the victory over Mali, 58-50.
