Ringette Canada – Ottawa, Ontario – February 16, 2016 – The Cambridge Turbos have overtaken Montreal Mission for the top spot of the National Ringette League (NRL) Elite Eight rankings this month. Montreal has held the top spot in the rankings since the beginning of the season. After this weekend’s games, Cambridge, Montreal and Edmonton WAM! have clinched the top spot in their respective divisions and receive a bye to the NRL Championship tournament which will be held in London, Ontario from April 4-9, 2016. The remaining teams will continue to battle it out for a spot at the championship, with the top two teams in the west advancing and then the remaining four spots being determined through playoffs taking place on March 12-13 (3rd vs. 4th in the West and 3rd vs. 8th, 4th vs. 7th and 5th vs. 6th in the East).
 
Cambridge (1) won seven and lost one this past month, while Edmonton WAM! (2) move up one spot in the rankings to second after going undefeated in their last five games. Montreal (3) won five of their last eight games and drop to third place, while the Gloucester Devils (4) won five and dropped one in the last month to move up one spot. Atlantic Attack (5) drop one spot in the rankings, winning two of their last six games, while Calgary RATH (6) move up one spot to sixth after winning four and losing one in the last month. Richmond Hill Lightning (7) drop one spot to seventh, winning two games and losing one in the last month. Ottawa Ice (8) hold onto their eighth place ranking after splitting their last six games.

Cambridge Turbos currently hold the NRL Championship title after downing Richmond Hill Lightning 6-2 at the 2015 NRL Championship tournament final held in April 2015 in Wood Buffalo, Alberta. This year’s NRL Championship tournament will be held in London, Ontario from April 4-9, 2016.
