Calgary and Fredericton have been announced as hosts for Canada Soccer’s 2017 Sport Chek National Championships. Both cities will host youth competitions in October 2017, with the Fredericton District Soccer Association awarded the U-17 Cup and the Calgary Minor Soccer Association awarded the U-15 Cup.

“We welcome Calgary and Fredericton as host cities and thank our provincial soccer associations in their support of the Sport Chek National Championships,” said Victor Montagliani, Canada Soccer President. “We look forward to collaborating within our soccer communities to deliver an excellent soccer experience for our players, coaches, and officials.”

Fredericton, New Brunswick is hosting their first Canada Soccer youth competition since 2011 while Calgary, Alberta is hosting their first Canada Soccer youth competition since 2002. This is the first edition with the change in format back to U-15 and U-17 age categories.

Host city for Canada Soccer’s 2017 Sport Chek National Championships senior competitions – the Challenge Trophy & Jubilee Trophy – will be announced in the near future. Both competitions will be hosted in British Columbia for the first time since 2006.

Canada Soccer’s Sport Chek National Championships have served as the country’s premier amateur competition for more than 100 years, with the senior men’s competition inaugurated in 1913 and the senior women’s competition inaugurated in 1982. The Sport Chek National Championships provide a meaningful soccer experience for host cities and participating clubs, as well as the players, coaches, support staff, and officials. The annual competitions are complemented by both the Futsal Canadian Championship (since 2015) and the Amway Canadian Championship featuring Canada’s professional clubs (since 2008).
