Synchro Canada – Granite Synchro takes top spot in 11-12 team event 

Winnipeg, June 4,  2016 —The Calgary Aquabelles won the gold medal in the 13-15 team and solo events on Saturday to conclude the 2016 Canadian Espoir Championships at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg, MB.

In the team event, the Aquabelles delivered a high energy performance that earned them the highest mark of the field for their tribal routine – 74.3000 – and the top cumulative score of 142.3364.  Quebec Excellence Synchro won silver with their Lion King routine and a cumulative score of 140,2916 while Montreal Synchro took bronze with their clocks-themed routine, receiving a score of 140.1397.

13-15 Solo Finals
In 13-15 solos, Calgary’s Teah Hoffman, the leader after the preliminary round, took gold with a cumulative score of 143.4857, edging Flynne Gossling from Victoria Synchro (142.8890) and Jade Warren from Gloucester Synchro (142.4620).

11-12 Team Finals
In the 11-12 team event, Granite Synchro from Toronto were the winners with a championships score of 61.9356.  Olympium Synchro, also from Toronto, won silver with a score of 60.9955 for their Beetlejuice routine while Calgary Killarney Synchro was third at 59.5669.

Rosalie Dufour wins Cairns and Parent Trophy
Rosalie Dufour, from Quebec Excellence Synchro, was awarded the Cairns and Parent Trophy for the 2016 National Espoir Championships.  The award is given every year to the athlete in the 13-15 category that competes in figures, solo, duet and team and accumulates the highest total score.

Dufour, from Beauport, QC, was 7th in figures, 4th in solo, 2nd in duet and 2nd in team.

Terri Hambrook Memorial Trophy
Chihiro Ishii, from Granite Synchro, received the Terry Hambrook Memorial Trophy which is awarded yearly to the most promising coach who displays all-around coaching abilities in figures, solo, duet and team in the 13-15 age group.

Over 300 synchronized swimmers from 31 clubs and 9 Canadian provinces were in Winnipeg this week to compete in the 2016 Canadian Espoir Synchronized Swimming Championships, along with over 80 coaches and 30 officials.
